Qns: Reflecting on my experience today...
Ans:
Verifying: to prove that something is true or to check whether or not something is true by examination, investigation, or comparison.
If I use today’s question even though that is not the main issue anymore, I felt that it is still confusing. I understand what you are trying to say during the first meeting. According to my understanding, I felt that it is to find the right way to tell Alex the pros and cons between microwave and home-cooked food. Therefore when I was pointed wrong, I was surprised that my understanding was wrong since I thought that verifying is to prove that something is true or to check whether something is true by examination, investigation, or comparison.
I know that it was my fault for not clarifying but keep it within myself. If I had clarified during the meeting itself, I think it would have minimize the mistakes that is made. I had not paid much attention during the study period as the roles and about who to do which questions so on and so forth was not properly distributed. This time round, as I decided to let someone to take on the role of a leader, therefore I can see that he was unable to distribute the job properly.
I hope I will be able to take more initiative in helping all my leader to be more focus in distribution of roles and jobs. I felt that if today’s problem statement could be more clear, I think there will be less misunderstanding. I had tried to used my 2nd study break to put myself in the idea of an working adult. I thought I was to do the pros and cons and give my own personal opinion to Alex. It seems that it was proven wrong as there was many questions that was raised during the QA session. Therefore relying on my prior knowledge is not enough. I felt that I wasn’t clear in understanding the primary secondary source.
It was after the 6P, I understand that primary source is originated from the speaker and the secondary source is originated from the person who interviews the speaker. This makes me understand that it is important to know where the source that was found is originated. This is because if the source is by the secondary source, it might mean that the person who wrote it can be biased or twist the words of the speaker. But if the source is originated by the speaker which is the primary source, there will not be a twist of words but definitely there will be a chance that the source may be very biased.
I felt that my team can be more communicative and that during the next lesson, I should put down my screen and ignore everything that is on my laptop to be concentrating on the problem statement. The team was not as productive as the week before due to the internet breakdown. I hope that next time, my team mates and I will learn not to rely on the internet so much and to refer to other sources as resource such as books in the library, talking with friends who have ideas and of course is the facilitators. This will help me and my team mates to be less reliant to internet.
I felt that today’s lesson isn’t as productive as I thought. This is because I am still not fully understand why I need to study cognitive. That is just the partial reason. The next part of the reason is that the problem statement is too confusing. I hope that next time I will be focus on what the problem statement want to answering “half-half”.
